Show Me the Blog Is Looking for a Volunteer Coordinator

Mar 28, 2011   //   by admin   //   Announcements, Volunteers  //  No Comments

Things are really moving along for Show Me the Blog Social Media and Blogging Conference. We appealed for volunteers last month and we have had an overwhelming response. There are many areas that we need volunteers in, but we also need a volunteer coordinator to manage the volunteers and assign duties.

The volunteer coordinator is not a paid position but does come with a few perks: free admission to conference for you and a guest, a participation certificate, letter of recommendation, and a gift. It would only take about 1.5 to 2 hours per week currently and more time may be needed of course as we get closer to conference. This position would be perfect for a college student who would like experience in event planning, organizing, and management.

If you are truly interested in this opportunity, please send an email to info@showmetheblog.com. In the subject line, please write Volunteer Coordinator.

Please pass along this current opening to someone you think may be interested. Thank you!

An Undeniable Yes!

Mar 23, 2011   //   by Robyns Online World   //   Blog, Speakers  //  No Comments

Robyns Online WorldLast year when I learned about the first Show Me the Blog Conference, I was thrilled. It was a conference right here in my own backyard in St. Louis. First perk— no travel expenses for me. Second perk—the ticket price was fantastic compared to the hundreds of dollars for many events I have attended. Perhaps the best perk was that I knew it would also be filled with great bloggers and social media enthusiasts from right here in St. Louis. Win-win-win!

Was it worth my time? Most definitely! I was able to meet so many people face to face finally that I had only talked with on Twitter previously. My network was expanded by the new people I met as well, people that were out of my normal scope even here in St. Louis. While we may think our interests are limited to the type of blogging or social networking we do, it really is not, I was entranced during the mixer hearing how others here in St. Louis are sharing their voice through social media.

The conference itself had a close family feel. We were a little crowded but I think in a good way. There was not an empty seat in the house which I think made us all realize there are plenty of St. Louisians who are into all of this social media just like ourselves. During the conference I took away tools, tips, information, and insight from every single speaker and panelist. I honestly can’t make that same statement about every conference or event I have attended. Show Me the Blog was truly an event that I have continued to use what I learned.

Would I recommend that you attend Show Me the Blog in 2011? An undeniable yes! I have it marked on my calendar and would not miss it. Even if you are not in the immediate St. Louis area I think it would be worth coming into town for. I have no doubt that Show Me the Blog 2011 will be even better than last year!

Editor’s Note: Robyn will be speaking at this year’s Show Me the Blog Social Media and Blogging Conference, Oct. 21 & Oct. 22, 2011. Get your tickets now.
