Show Me the Blog ’11 Will Be Held at Lumiere Place

Many of you saw our announcement yesterday that we had been keeping under wraps—this year’s Show Me the Blog Social Media and Blogging Conference will be held at the Lumiere Place Casino downtown. We are so excited to be able to hold this year’s event at this wonderful location.

What this means is epic in terms of the conference—we will have more space for conference activity as well as breakaway sessions, which will ensure that attendees get the most out of their ticket price. In addition, as you may have read, conference will be held on two days this year—Friday, Oct. 21st (11-5pm) & Sat., Oct. 22nd (11-5pm). The first day of conference will focus on social media tracks and topics while the second day will focus on blogging.

Out of town guests will also be able to stay at the Lumiere Place as well with a special room rate. We will be announcing more details on that in the next few days.

Things are really shaping up to make Show Me the Blog Social Media and Blogging Conference the definitive event for bloggers and social media persons that want to learn, grow, and connect!

Pre-sale tickets for Show Me the Blog Social Media and Blogging Conference will begin on 3/1– $50.00 for both days and $35.00 for one day (Day 1 or Day 2).

Would You Like to Volunteer for Show Me the Blog ’11?

There is so much that goes into planning and executing a conference. A good solid team of volunteers is essential for making a wonderful event happen. So we are calling on you for some help from our friends. We are looking for a few good volunteers who are interesting in doing anything from manning the registration tables at the conference, to setting up, to helping with communication needs. If you would like to volunteer, please email us at showmetheblog@yahoo.com.

Those that volunteer for the conference will receive free entrance into the conference for both sessions as well as our thanks and undying love. I’d say those are good things to have!

We are looking forward to hearing from you! We want to take this year’s conference to the next level!

Show Me the Blog Call for Ideas

You spoke and we listened. The survey that many attendees of last year’s conference completed had  a lot to say when it came to length of conference, space, and time of the event. So this year, we want to make sure that we make major steps to improve and heighten your overall conference experience, so we have decided to make conference a two day event (11-5pm) on 10/21 and 10/22. Attendees will have the option of attending both days or just one day—insuring everyone will have adequate time to network, learn, grow, and connect. We will also have breakaway sessions to help ease the flow of information, so there will be something from everyone.

In doing so, we also want to hear from you, our attendees and followers about what you would like to hear about and learn at this year’s event. So we are putting out an official Show Me the Blog Call for Ideas so everyone can participate in making the content of the conference interactive and worthwhile.

If you have an idea for conference, or have an idea for a speaker, guest, or panelist (or you are interested in being any one of these), this is the time to speak up. Our Call for Ideas officially opens now and will be up until March 15, 2011—plenty of time to get in our ideas and suggestions.

Simply click the Call for Ideas section above (or click HERE) and you will be able to submit your ideas. The top ideas and suggestions will be placed on the website so people can vote for who they want to see and what they want to learn, hopefully, making this conference a truly interactive experience.

Blogging With Purpose

What is the main purpose of your blog?

Is it to inform people on a certain topic or niche? Is it to make an additional income stream? Is it to help grow your business? Is it all of the above?

We all blog for different reasons. But we all should blog with purpose, especially if our blogs are being used to business or branding purposes. There are hundreds of blogs that are started every minute—yours should stand out from the rest by being unique, purposeful, and focused. When you blog with purpose, your voice is strong and it becomes more authentic.

When you blog with purpose, it sets the bar high for those around you who read your blog.

The next time you just throw up a blog post, think about it—is it a blog post with purpose? Does it resonate? Does it have a theme, a goal, a focus?

As bloggers, let’s focus on less filler and more meat when it comes to our blog sites. And let’s help one another by commenting, sharing, retweeting, and bringing others to sites that we love.
